Magnolia
Large white or light pink, 8-petal blossoms appearing for a short time in early spring. Magnolias are quite dramatic when used in bouquets and arrangement, but they are very delicate.
Maidenhair Fern
Used in many commercial floral arrangements, this feathery fern is usually used as a base over which the flowers are arranged.
Mallow (Hibiscus mascheutos)
Widely funnel-shaped flowers with spreading petals. Available in a variety of colours.
Marigold
Daisy-like flower heads which last well when cut. Has large blossoms in varying shades of yellow and orange, with soft green leaves and short stems.
Marjoram
Simple and aromatic leaves, tubular or funnel-shape. Brightly coloured and last for several weeks once cut.
Michaelmas Daisy (Aster Novi Belgii)
Simple, solitary flower heads in loose, branching clusters and with many petals. A variety of colours including pink, white, purple, lilac and blue.
Mimosa
Petite yellow, pea-like flowers each with four to five petals. Lightly clustered in spherical heads either singular, spiked or grouped. Produce fruits during a hot summer, which can be used in arrangements, along with its delicate foliage.
Mint
A fragrant, delicious herb with small ridges along its blue-green leaves. Used to brighten the taste of food and drink, or add a wonderful fragrance to the bridal bouquet. Mint is ready for plucking in the spring and is available through the autumn.
Mistletoe
Produces small white berries, with small oval green leaves. Ideal foliage for Christmas weddings.
Montbretia (Crocosmia)
Funnel-shaped, brightly coloured flowers at terminals along each long stem. The flowers are excellent for cuttings.
Morning Glory (Impomoea)
Funnel-shaped, tubular flowers that are plain or striped, in red, blue, purple, scarlet and pink.
Mugwart/Sagebrush/Wormwood (Artemisia)
Variously shaped leaves that are aromatic and in shades of green, silver and grey. The flowers are cylindrical and are either singular or clustered.
Muscari
Also known as grape hyacinth, these delicate succulent stems are often gathered for small hand-carried bouquets. Dozens of small blooms begin mid-stem and taper towards the top. Available in white and deep purple-blue.
Myrtle
Solitary bowl-shaped white flowers that are aromatic.
