Suppliers & Costs Record
Most of the quotes and estimates you collect will be actual costs; for example, when the limousine company quotes you a price of £420 for the bridal car, that will almost always be the actual price you will pay, even if the wedding is 12 months away. However, it is always a good idea to ask, and confirm the position just in case.
In requesting quotes and information from suppliers, it is important to ask each trader for exactly the same thing. This may sound obvious but it is very easy to find you have collected quotations for rather different things instead of the same one - it's no good trying to compare two quotes from caterers when one is for a buffet and the other is for a 'sit down' meal!
The suppliers and cost record form needs to include:
- the service name (eg catering)
- the suppliers name
- the date contacted
- the price quoted
- whether this supplier was accepted or not
- the actual cost
- date you paid
Keeping track of the timetable and your expenditure will help you to stay calm and relaxed, knowing that everything is under control and in hand.
