Choosing the Right Music Band or DJ
When choosing your band or DJ, you should consider the following points:
- If you are booking a band, ask for a demonstration CD or video, so that you get a good idea of what they look and sound like.
- Find out if they are due to perform anywhere so you can see them in action before you confirm a booking.
- What fees will be charged? What kind of deposit is required? What is the fee schedule? When is the balance due?
- Make sure you know what the price you have been quoted covers - does it include VAT and transportation?
- Will there be any other extras to pay for?
- How long will they play for?
- What will they charge for any overtime?
- What happens if they are unable to play at the wedding, as in the event of an emergency or illness?
- Will you be expected to provide food and drink? If you are, you will need to let your caterer know.
- What equipment are you expected to provide, such as music stands, speakers, amplifiers or microphones?
- What size stage is needed?
- Discuss the play list. If you have favourite songs, include them. Let them know what you have chosen for your first dance.
